The name game for the next generation of Android OS (what is android ?) had come to an end, as Google named it officially. According to the policies of Google, all their versions of the Android operating system have been allocating the name of the sweets (Cup Cake, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean, KitKat and Lollipop) and hence Android M is also anticipated in the same series.

Most closely, the Muffin, Marshmallow and the Malai Burfi are the strong names among the contestant for the Android M. Yes, coming to the point, finally, Google Android Developers named Marshmallow for its next generation Android OS. Now you can call Android M or Android Marshmallow for the Android 6.0 SDK. Interestingly, the final version of the Android M 6.0 official SDK developer preview was also released.

New API Level 23 for Android Marshmallow

After the official launch of the Android M 6.0 SDK final developer preview, Product Manager, Jamal Eason wrote on its blog post stating that, “Today with the final Developer Preview update, we’re introducing the official Android 6.0 SDK and opening Google Play for publishing your apps that target the new API level 23 in Android Marshmallow”.

The Google Play Store is ready to accept the apps which are made through the new API 23 developer console. It is also stated that, the Google play store will be installed and updated according to the new permission model for the API 23 Level.

Jamal Eason further explains that, “Classes for detecting and parsing bar codes are available in the namespace. The BarcodeDetector class is the main workhorse — processing Frame objects to return a SparseArray<Barcode> types”.

New Features Of Android M Marshmallow

As every new version of the Android OS has been released, there will be new possibilities made available with it. According to that rule, the latest version Android M (Marshmallow) 6.0 was also enabled with plenty of new platforms support and to name a few, fingerprint scanner and Doze Power saving mode.
