At today’s event (March 9th, 2015), Apple has introduced to us its new MacBook with a 12-inch Retina display and a single USB-C connector to do everything you need like:
- Charging battery
- Copying files
- DisplayPort 1.2
- VGA output with an adapter (sold separately)
- HDMI video output, also with adapter (sold separately)
Will you feel not comfortable to use this new MacBook from Apple ? Because maybe you will need to copy files from a USB drive while charging or using a projector.
Weight just 2 pounds with 13.1-mm thick, the 12″ MacBook is almost lighter than the 13″ MacBook Air. It features a 12″ Retina display with 2,304 x 1,440 pixels of resolution and save up to 30% energy than before.
You can select between two base configuration with 1.1GHz or 1.2GHz dual-core Intel Core M processor, 4MB shared L3 cache. This new laptop comes with 8GB of LPDDR3 onboard memory, you can’t remove, replace or add new RAM.
Same with the RAM, it comes with 256GB / 512GB of onboard flash storage, PCIe-based. The new MacBook has Wi-Fi 802.11 ac connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0 as well as a headphone jack. Apple said its battery can give you 9 hours of use with a single charge because based on Broadwell 14-nm CPU that just use 5-watt in regular operation.
There are two configuration available:
- $1,299 for 1.1GHz dual-core Intel Core M CPU, 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD
- $1,599 for 1.2GHz dual-core Intel Core M CPU, 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD
Both models will ship in April 10th and available in three colors: gold, silver and space gray.
