It seems that Seagate has worked and tested its first 10TB HDD (hard drive) and prepare to release in the next year. Based on SMR (shingled magnetic recording) technology, this new HDD will going to be the world largest HDD with more DRAM cache, as the company claimed.
Seagate also hopes to use the HAMR (heat assisted magnetic recording) technology to be the next future of HDD, after the SMR.
However, the upcoming 1TB from Seagate doesn’t come with high speed of reading/writing yet and still have same I/O speed as others. Don’t upset yet, because they are now under work & test progress, a lot of things will change in next time. Maybe they’ll find one solution.
